YOGA
THERAPY
Yoga therapy is the
specialised, one to one, adaptation of yoga to help people heal and
grow. Yoga therapy can be used for many health problems including: -
- Lower
back conditions
- Digestive
problems such as IBS
- Stress
related illness
- Breathing
problems/asthma
- Arthritis
- Asthma
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes
What Does Yoga Therapy Consist
of ?
Yoga Therapy consists of a
combination of :-
Physical
postures: Simple
yoga postures gently stretch and strengthen muscles, improving
mobility, flexibility, respiration, circulation, digestion and
elimination. These consist of both simple movements and held postures,
which promote a general sense of health and well being.
Breathing
techniques:
Yoga breathing exercises can be practiced anywhere and at any time.
Awareness of the breath is central to all forms of yoga and promotes
calmness, helping to focus the mind, and relieving stress and mental
fatigue.
Relaxation
methods:
Learning how to relax is a central element of Yoga Therapy. Relaxation
is the body’s way of recharging, and helps to ease physical and mental
tension. Relaxation techniques encourage us to step back and look
objectively at our habitual patterns of behaviour, helping us to cope
better with situations that put our body and mind under strain.
Yoga Therapy can be practised
in conjunction with any medical
treatments you are already receiving, and also in tandem with other
complementary therapies. No prior experience of yoga is necessary
before starting.
One to one sessions would also
be useful for any yoga student wanting
to develop a home practice, learn more about pranayama, learn more
about meditation or learn how to adapt postures to suit the needs of
the student.
All yoga therapy practitioners
should be fully qualified yoga teachers
who have undergone further medical training. For further information

charged at one and a half hours to cover extra travelling time and
fuel. This
works out to £45 per session. Further distances are open to
negotiation. Two friends working together for a session is negotiable.
Please ask. Block bookings can also attract a discount.
