FAQs

Do I need any equipment?

Not at first. Mats are available at all my classes for new starters. I think you will find that a yoga mat is a good investment if you intend to stay with yoga.

What should I wear?

Any comfortable clothing eg track suit bottoms and t-shirt. Whatever you can move freely in and wear with comfort. Don't spend loads of money on fancy yoga gear. For those who must be properly kitted out there is always www.yoga-clothing.co.uk  for excellent yoga wear. Try the "Easy Mover" trousers, can be made to measure and they seem to be hard wearing and comfortable.

What about my tea? I'm hungry when I get home from work.

You have to plan your yoga day. Best not to eat for about 2 hours before your class. Don't drink for at least one hour before the class. It's all part of the discipline and it makes forward bends much more comfortable. I still get people coming to classes after a full fish-supper but they generally only do it the once.

I'm not very flexible, is that OK?

Yes. We can adapt any posture to suit you. Yoga is about where you are right now, not what you or anybody else thinks you should be.

Do I have to do anything at home?

It's best if  you can do some yoga at home and I will certainly encourage you to develop a home practice. Don't beat yourself up if you don't do any yoga at home. One lesson a week is better than no yoga at all.

How much will it cost me?

My private class at  Beeston Primary is one of the cheapest in Leeds. It's only £3 per 90 minute session but you have to pay in advance. Classes at East  Leeds are more expensive, but you would have to contact the centre directly on  0113 2141333 for more information. I have no control over these prices.

What will yoga do for my bottom?

I was asked this question a lot, especially when I worked in a certain gym. "You should be next door for that," was my usual reply. Go and jog, go swimming or cycling, play raquetball, do something sweaty and come to yoga for a spiritual journey.
